to be honest, i wasn't that upset to learn that joaquin phoenix had decided to retire from acting. however, when he said he wanted to pursue a music career, i assumed he would head in the direction of johnny cash, since that role seemed to be what had sparked his interest. his decision to become some kind of strange rastafarian-esque rapper is just too much to bear...isn't 34 a little old to start living as a bizarre burnout?
